Leap & Hop is a series of travel books written especially for children by Isabelle Demenge with illustrations by Emilie Sarnel. The idea of the series is to turn a “grown-up” trip into a fun adventure for children. These interactive books aim at getting children to discover new places and learn about other cultures through interesting information as well as games and activities. For parents, the books provide an ideal way to stick to a grown-up itinerary with a focus on cultural sites, and to create an unforgettable travel experience for their children. As kids play along by drawing, writing, and collecting items of interest throughout the journey, they'll find themselves creating a very personal souvenir as the book is transformed into a travel scrapbook for them to keep.

The first three destinations offered by Leap & Hop are all located in Asia. Leap & Hop Cambodia teaches readers to play I-Spy in Angkor Wat, distinguish Apsaras from Devatas in the Khmer temples, draw a Buddha, go on a treasure hunt in the Bayon, and understand how currency exchange works, among other activities. Leap & Hop Sri Lanka takes you to the Cultural Triangle in the centre of Sri Lanka where you can spot the differences between the two Buddhas in Dambulla's cave temples, learn about the tea production, identify different dagobas in Anuradhapura and stone carvings in the Embekke temple while playing detective with local prices. Leap & Hop India focuses on Agra and Rajasthan. Kids can learn to distinguish between history and myths surrounding the Taj Mahal, go on a scavenger hunt in the palaces of maharajahs in Udaipur, write their name in Hindi, and read about the palace intrigues of the Mughal emperors, among others.

About the author

Isabelle Demenge is a native of Paris who moved to New York City to start a family. She has lived many lives: corporate finance lawyer, mother of three boys, amateur photographer, world traveler and writer. Facing the difficulties of traveling with children in Cambodia, she decided to write for her kids the book that she couldn’t find… Having passed her kids’ crash-test, she continued developing a series of children’s travel books for other destinations. Her books help families move from “kid–friendly destinations” to places that are culturally richer in a way that all will enjoy with information hand-picked for children and interactive games.
