Leap & Hop is a series of travel books for children aged 8 and older written by Isabelle Demenge and illustrated by Emilie Sarnel. The idea of the series is to turn a “grown-up” trip into a funadventure for children. These interactive books aim at getting children to discover new places and learn about other cultures through interesting information as well as games and activities.

For parents, the books provide an ideal way to stick to a grown-up itinerary with a focus on cultural sites, and to create an unforgettable travel experience for the whole family. As kids play along by drawing, writing, and collecting items of interest throughout the journey, they’ll find themselves creating a very personal souvenir as the book is transformed into a travel scrapbook for them to keep.

In addition to general information on the history, currency, religious beliefs, food, and temple architecture of the country, Leap & Hop Myanmar will focus on the major sites such as Yangon, Bagan, Mandalay as well as Inle Lake. The children will be engaged as they explore Myanmar with fun and educational challenges that vary from place to place, such as an “I-Spy game” in Sulamani Temple in Bagan, a scavenger hunt in the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon, a quiz walk in Yangon’s heritage neighbourhood, or a step-by-step drawing of a reclining Buddha near Mawlamyine.

The next travel books will take your children to Singapore and New York..

About the Author and Illustrator

Isabelle Demenge is a native of Paris who moved to New York City to start a family. She has lived many lives: corporate finance lawyer, mother of three boys, amateur photographer, world traveler and writer. Facing the difficulties of traveling with children in Cambodia, she decided to write for her kids the book that she couldn’t find… Having passed her kids’ crash-test, she continued developing a series of children’s travel books for other destinations. Her books help families move from “kid–friendly destinations” to places that are culturally richer in a way that all will enjoy with information hand-picked for children and interactive games.

Emilie Sarnel graduated from French art school ENSAD, "École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs", in Paris where she was professionally trained in graphic design. After graduation, Emilie went to Shanghai to provide art direction for the creative advertising agency Wieden+Kennedy, that later relocated her to Tokyo in 2009 as graphic designer. She left Tokyo for Hong Kong in 2011 and started her own creative design studio in May 2013. Among other projects, she is now art directing the Leap & Hop book series written by Isabelle Demenge.
